Let the people like Dell and HP worry about platform drivers and incompatible software for now, and I'll reconsider building a Vista machine in the future. It just sucks that my test platform wasnt my own, and I dont have access to it daily to run tests and install upgrades. Call me weird, but I am considering purchasing Vista for my own machine, just so that I have a good grasp on it's design and flaws so that I can be of better service to those experiencing issues. My friend got so sick of the issues with Vista he gave up and reinstalled xp. New operating systems always come with bugs but this reminds me so much of the release of Windows 95. That was a huge mess to say the very least but it did become a pretty table OS after a couple years. Then 98 came in and 95 was a thing of the past. I don't even want to scare the hell out of everyone and mention, shall I say it, Windows ME (still gives me nightmares)! Hearing stories like this a lot. I just finished building a new AM2 3800+ machine for my sister with Vista 64bit. Her graphics card goes blank screen for a second whenever the annoying Administration rights popup rears its ugly head, and I had to install nVidia beta drivers for her IGP 6150 so that it would play DVD's in full screen. Then, much to my chagrin, AVG Free tells me that I must purchase the software for it to run under Vista64, because it is not available with the Free license for that platform. Dont get me wrong, I am very impressed with the OS as a whole thus far, but just cant get over hurdles so far getting a budget system up and running with Vista64.
