Ooops! Microsoft’s Vista Banned Again?
Seems Microsoft’s Vista woes are mounting by the minute. You may have heard earlier in the month that the U.S. Department Of Transportation as well as the Federal Aviation Administration have both imposed blackouts on Microsoft’s Office 2007, Internet Explorer 7, and the Vista operating system. Some of the major issues are well known such as major security exploits, driver issues, and the simple fact that many popular programs such as Google Apps. simply aren’t designed to work with Vista. The cost of upgrading to Vista is just too costly and time consuming and simply offers no advantages for many to do so. Many companies as well as private organizations are opting to run combinations of Linux and Google’s new office productivity tools.
Now comes the latest black eye to Vista. The influential National Institute of Standards and Technology have banned Vista from its internal computing networks. No solid information has yet been released regarding the ban. The NIST is a part of the Department Of Commerce and have scheduled a meeting in early April to discuss their concerns regarding the operating system released in January of this year InformationWeek reports. As new information unfolds we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
